Global Partners Manager and Division of Public Health Professor, Kathy Pedersen, MPAS, Collaborates with Moroccan Ministry of Health
In 2016 senior management of the Moroccan Ministry of Health, in collaboration with University of Utah Global Partners, completed an initial healthcare needs assessment. The results identified emergency medicine as an area of need.  Global Partners manager and senior advisor, Kathy Pedersen, MPAS and Donald M. Pedersen, PhD, PA-C, oversee the partnerships and projects of the program.
At the request of the Moroccan Ministry of Health, Global Partners developed the 2017 Emergency Care and Life Support Program as an academic corporate partnership to meet health needs in Morocco.

Sydney Willis, MSPH Candidate
Sydney Willis is currently a MSPH candidate in the Division of Public Health, and is graduating spring. She is currently working on her thesis concerning preconception dental care and adverse birth outcomes. Sydney continues to work with Dr. Karen Schliep on the effects of lifestyle factors on endometriosis and with Dr. Joseph Stanford on modeling day specific probabilities for conception. She plans to begin a PhD in Epidemiology program in Fall of 2017.

Save the Date for Public Health & Disasters
Public Health & Disasters is a multidisciplinary national conference that brings together professionals from a variety of disciplines including academia, public health, community disaster preparedness, EMS, medical practice, and emergency response, as well as policy-makers from governmental and non-governmental organizations, and the media. The conference seeks to provide public health professionals and their partner agencies and organizations with the opportunity to exchange ideas and concepts that will improve emergency public health preparedness in their local community and support the collaboration and coordination necessary for effective and efficient preparedness and response. 
​​Topics this year include 
Healthcare Coalitions, Risk Assessment: Mapping & Planning, California Drought and Flooding, Emergency Toolkit Utilization, Coordination of Hospital and Medical Response, and more
